The Willis Genealogy

The time and strenuousness attention to detail in preparing this genealogy has been great and thorough. As the line goes farther back in time, less is known about wives, but I have remained as true to the original spellings as possible. The first mention of a “Willis” comes after King Edward III as “Wylley.” The spelling then progress to Wylls, Willes, Wyllys and finally Willis.

After finding these vast discoveries, I have established my heraldic coat of arms as such:

The significance is as follows from top left to right:  1. The Willis Crest of English Ancestry. (A lack chevron towered by two stars and one below.) 2. The Royal arms of Henry II, the first official English coat of arms. (The Lion Rampant.) 3. The Royal Arms of Edward I, II and III. (Three Lions Salient in Tower) 4. The Arms of Edward III added this to the previous design. (The Fleur de Leur.)

Since no official motto exists, I chose “Ex Deo Victoria.” “Victory is of God.”
